important information related to video streaming
Netflix HD – 3GB (Gigabytes) per hour
Ultra HD (4K) – 7GB per hour
(similar is true for all other platforms streaming video)
“200GB Download limit is 1 HD movie streamed per day”
Consider an Internet service provider who offers you a 200GB limited Internet plan. The math would suggest that if you were to stream HD video for 2h15minutes a day, you would bust your limit after 30 days.
“One extra person streaming can double your Internet usage”
While one HD video stream is 3GB per hour. Two HD video streams at once is 6GB per hour. The more people streaming at once in your home, the more your usage goes up, the quicker you risk paying overage fees.
1ST EXAMPLE –
one HD stream – 2 Hours per day – for 30 days.
6GB per day times 30 days = 180GB
2ND EXAMPLE –
two HD streams – 2 Hours per day – FOR 30 DAYS.
12GB PER DAY TIMES 30 DAYS = 360GB
3RD EXAMPLE –
one hd stream – one 4K stream – 2 hours per day – 30 days
20GB PER DAY TIMES 30 DAYS = 600GB
4RD EXAMPLE – two 4k STREAMs – 3 Hours per day – 30 DAYS
21GB PER DAY TIMES 30 DAYS = 630GB
-In conclusion –
You will want to be sure to run this math against your homes usage and Internet habits. This answer will lead you to peace of mind whenever your monthly bill comes along. Many will make the mistake of only looking at their actual usage but don’t take into account the added usage once they cut the cable or turn to a streaming service for the Television.
